学术
For an immersive experience in food culture and sustainability, Rome is unmatched. Here, ancient wisdom meets modern innovation. Home to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and at the heart of Mediterranean cuisine, Rome has a vibrant food ecosystem—from historic markets and artisanal producers to cutting-edge urban farms and zero-waste restaurants. The surrounding Lazio region showcases Italy’s commitment to agricultural biodiversity, where traditional techniques and contemporary sustainability practices unite to shape resilient food systems for the future.
课程
By the end of your study tour, you can confidently explain the main Italian cooking methods, using appropriate terminology of food and food preparations. Your understanding of Italian regional geography reflects on each region’s origins, its typical foods, and those generational recipes handed down through families. You discuss organic farming, the importance of local markets, and the relationship between the seasons and the food on your plate. As you meander the cobbled Roman streets, you share conversations about slow food, Italian policy and legislation on food and wine, and the importance of wine, cheese, and olive oil to the Italian identity.

When studying abroad, you will want to consider the time of year and how long you are away. Most programs follow the host university's academic calendar.
The dates shown below are general estimates, and as you get closer to the start of the term, you will get more detailed information from SAF. If you have any questions, your Student Counsellor and Program Specialist are always here to support you and point you to the correct information.
Housing Information
Hotel/Hostel
Study tours are intense periods of exploration. They usually last just a few weeks—shorter than the normal study abroad experience—and sometimes travel to multiple destinations.
For this reason, SAF arranges the best short-term student accommodation, typically in hotels or hostels. University dormitories may be available depending on the term during travel.
*Each program has different accommodation requirements, so SAF plans for each diligently. For specific questions regarding housing, please contact SAF.
